Operation Description:
A circuit having two
resistors connected to both ends is called a parallel
circuit. First, connect a 10K resistor (R1) to the circuit,
now R=R1, the electric current of the circuit will be
smaller and the light of the diode will be dimmer; then
add a parallel connection of a 1K resistor (R2) to the
circuit, the diode will now be brighter as the electrical
current is stronger. It explains that the resistance
of a parallel circuit, compared with a series circuit,
is smaller, since R= R1XR2/ R1+R2.
The experiment:
Connect the circuit
as in fig. 3.1. The connecting of the diode should be
the same as in a series circuit. The diode will be dimmer
when the red wire (W) is not connected; when W is connected
to terminal 15, the diode will be brighter as the resistance
drops and the current increased.
Functions of electronic components
(Summary):
*Light-emitting
diode (D) as indicator;
*Resistors
(R1and R2) for limiting electric current;
*Battery
(E) for electricity supply.
