Experiment objective:
A circuit having
two resistors connected in a string is called a series
circuit. Such connection of resistors generates a greater
electrical resistance when compared to one resistor,
since R1+R2> R1. Greater electrical resistance will
make the light dimmer.
The experiment:
Connect the circuit
as in fig.2.1, and light-emitting diode (D) would glow
(In case the diode does not glow, check the polarity
of the diode), note the brightness of the light-emitting
diode now; then remove the red wire from spring terminal
16, the electric resistance will be raised and the current
weaker, the light of the diode will thus be dimmer.
Functions of electronic
components (Summary):
*Light-emitting
diode (D) as indicator;
*Resistors
(R1 and R2) for limiting electric current; and
*Battery
(E) for electricity supply.
